Special Event
The City Prayer Breakfast in partnership with Bishop Graham Tomlin and the Centre for Cultural Witness, based at Lambeth Palace, will be running a one-day event in the heart of the City at Guildhall entitled
“Thinking Deeply to Speak Wisely” on Monday 13th May – booking now open.
The event is designed for senior City business leaders to come together to understand and be equipped for cultural witness in current times in a City context. Planned topics that Bishop Graham Tomlin, the author Glen Scrivener and broadcaster & economist Andrew Dilnot will speak to include:
The nature of Christian witness
How Christianity shaped Western culture
The Economy from a Christian perspective
How to communicate for maximum effect
Numbers will be limited to 25 so that there is also the opportunity to spend time with each other and build relationships.
The day will start with breakfast, include a working lunch and end with dinner, and you will understand that we will need to make a charge for these along with event and speaker costs.
I do hope you will be able to join us for what will, I believe, be a stimulating and inspiring day – booking is now open for 13th May.

Seminar Sessions:
A Trio of Seminars Exploring the Dynamics of Work:
In today’s rapidly evolving work environment, where hybrid is now the professional landscape, understanding the intricacies of work is more crucial than ever before.
The nature of work, workplace dynamics, and the skills required to thrive in various industries are continuously evolving.
To navigate these shifts effectively, professionals and organisations must stay informed, adapt and innovate. To shed light on these crucial aspects of the contemporary work environment, we present three thought-provoking seminars, each delving into their distinct facets of work.
Sharing Food and Good News
For 188 years London City Mission has been sharing the gospel with the poor and marginalised, as well as being a beacon of compassion and hope in serving people experiencing homelessness. Their unwavering commitment to people who are homeless means they not only provide sustenance for the body but also nourishment for the soul by means of the gospel. LCM unpacks how they reach rough sleepers, offering food, clothes and help with reintegration into society and work; and in doing so see gospel transformation.
The Medium and the Message
Premier Christian Radio unpacks the intricacies of how technology impacts our world of work, as the average UK adult checks their phones around 150 times a day and consumes almost 8 hours of media. The reality is that the media we consume has the largest influence on how we understand the world around us. It can give us hope, it can make us fearful. It can educate, it can mislead. It can point us to success, it can drive us off course. Discover the media habits of the UK population, the impact it has on all of us and how you can develop rhythms that will
Opportunities for Positive Cultural Engagement
Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics
The moral instincts and philosophical truth claims of our culture seem to be increasingly at odds with a Christian worldview. We live in a culture with many Christian foundations and yet Christianity is often rejected as untrue or dismissed as irrelevant. There’s widespread disbelief in God and yet a renewed openness to spirituality. How can we engage confidently and persuasively in today’s culture?
Apologetics is the discipline of explaining and defending the Christian faith in public. The church can often be defensive as it considers this public engagement, and often acts like it is under attack. This seminar will discuss how we can move from the defensive back foot onto the front foot of positive cultural engagement.
